Dr. Joshua S. Mostow
Dr. Joshua S. Mostow is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Asian
Studies, University of British Columbia,
Canada. He is currently in Japan on a Japan Foundation Fellowship for the
period July 1994 to June 1995, and is working on a study of the rise of
women's autobiographical writing in the 10th century (of which the paper
he will read forms a part). He is a Visiting Research Scholar in the Department
of Japanese Literature at Osaka University and in the Department of philosophy
at Gakushuin University. Among his publications are "The Amorous Statesman
and the Poetess" in Japan Forum (Oxford, 1992), and "Pictures
of the Heart: Hyakunin Isshu in Word and Image" (University of Hawaii
Press, forthcoming).
