Dr. Naoki Onishi

Dr. Onishi is Associate Professor of American Literature and American Studies at International Christian University, and an authority on American literature and U.S.-Japanese cultural relations. After graduating from I.C.U. he also received a B.A. from Amherst in 1976, and his Ph.D. from I.C.U. in 1990. He has taught full-time at I.C.U. since 1981, and has also been a lecturer at Tsuda Juku, Hokuriku Gakuen Women's Junior College, Chuo University and the University of Tokyo. From 1988 to 1989 he was a visiting scholar at Harvard with a fellowship from the American Council of Learned Societies. His publications include "The Letters of William S. Clark" (1986) and a translation of Constance Rourke's "Audubon"; he has also contributed articles on Emily Dickinson, American and Japanese society and other such subjects to various joint publications.
