Kawagoe Links

Kawagoe City's homepage is in both English and Japanese.

The Japan National Tourist Organization features an article about Kawagoe in English, including a map and many photos.

The Japan Travel Bureau Company has a Travel Japan Site Homepage. Though still under construction, this site contains a mixture of English and Japanese articles.

Kids Web Japan is an excellent link to Japan for the younger set.

There are some interesting Kawagoe information sites available in Japanese, but with good photos of Kawagoe:

Nikko Information

• This site in English has photos and texts about the decorative gates of Toshogu Shrine at Nikko.
• Tochigi Prefecture, where Nikko and Kinugawa Hot Spring are located, has an excellent site, but only in Japanese. There are some marvelous photos on the Nikko page, and the page introducing Toshogu Shrine.

Saitama/Tochigi Area Weather

These weather forecast links are available only in Japanese. Look at the Saitama Prefecture link for Kawagoe weather. Forecasts are given for South (where Kawagoe is), North, and West Saitama.

This is the Tochigi Prefecture link. Forecasts are given for North (where Nikko/Kinugawa are) and South Tochigi.

These weather links give, in addition to the current day's weather, a six-day forecast. Four items are given for each day.

1. The number given is the date.
2. Expected temperature highs and lows are given in degrees Centigrade.
3. The forecast is expressed using easily understandable symbols.
4. The chance of rain is given as a percentage. For the current day there are 3 percentages (for morning, afternoon, and evening). Percentages for other days are for morning chance of rain.

Also, for the current day an indication is given of how quickly laundry will dry.

Tokyo Area Weather

Tokyo-area weather forecasts are available in English. The sites below give advance forecasts in English, but the forecasts do not necessarily agree with each other. It is also unnerving to see weather forecasts giving projected reports for the previous day in Tokyo, even though these sites claim to be giving the latest information:

• CNN: Tokyo-area 4-day forecast.
• USA Today: Tokyo-area 5-day forecast.
• The Weather Channel: Tokyo-area 3-day forecast.
